  As the international community stops, thinks and reflects on how to build back better after the pandemic , ensuring a more peaceful and just world, the objectives of this side-event are to discuss the implications of COVID-19 from a crime prevention, justice, human rights protection and development perspective, with a specific focus on vulnerable youth.   (Re)Building Post-Pandemic Societies: Youth Using Sport to Prevent and Counter Violent Extremism AN ECOSOC YOUTH FORUM SIDE EVENT Tuesday, 6 April, 2021, 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM EST In the margins of the ECOSOC Youth Forum, the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) , together with the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) , the UN Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) , and the International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS) , are hosting a side event entitled " (Re)building post-pandemic societies: youth using sport to prevent and counter violent extremism" . This interactive discussion will serve to commemorate the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace and highlight the role of youth leadership and sport in preventing violent extremism and ensuring sustainable peace and development.
