Peace through sport educators.

The French Embassy in Togo has commissioned Peace and Sport to train 7 Togolese Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in the basics of Peace through Sport. Winners of the “ Sport, Inclusion and Social Cohesion ” call for projects, these 7 organizations are using sport as a tool to build a culture of peace throughout Togo. They beneficit from the French Embassy support in terms of best-practice sharing and training activities designed to strengthen the impact and sustainability of their actions. The Peace and Sport Academy is fully in line with this approach and with the recommendations of our organization. Recognition of Peace Educators as qualified, employable personnel is decisive. Professionalizing their status means providing training modules adapted to local contexts , and tools to support these men and women on whom the impact of our programs depends. Celebrating girls empowerment through sport.

Last week a delegation from Peace and Sport traveled to India to visit the Naandi Foundation, an active member of the Peacemakers Project international coalition .The visit was organized in the framework of the Toofaan Games’ National Finals, an annual series of athletics events from villages to national levels aimed at empowering girls through sports. The 4th edition brought together 180 000 girls from 6 000 villages across India, and was marked by the presence of Champion for Peace Marlène Harnois inspiring and motivating girls and educators. The French-Canadian Olympic medalist described « the Toofaan Games as an heartwarming experience promoting the positive values of sport for women and youth empowerment ». The Naandi Foundation is one of the largest and fastest growing social sector organizations in India working to make poverty history and providing instruments for a better tomorrow to the girls, youth, and farmers of India. 2024: A year dedicated to Athletes’ Commitment culminating with the Peace and Sport International Forum on 2-3 December

  Peace and Sport outlined its objectives and highlights for 2024 during a presentation attended by Monegasque institutions, Champions for Peace, the Organization’s partners, and stakeholders from civil society.   In this Olympic year, marked by a resurgence of international conflicts, the Monegasque Organization wishes to vigorously reaffirm the importance of sport as a tool for peace. The Champions for Peace, athletes committed to the Organization, will have a central role in all Peace and Sport initiatives. As leaders and role models, their mission will be to carry this message around the world, strengthening the impact of Peace and Sport’s actions in favor of peace . A unique #WhiteCard campaign carried out by the Champions will mark 2024 and begin during a conference dedicated to the role of athletes in society, scheduled for April 4 in Paris, in partnership with UNESCO. Celebrating Unity and Social Inclusion throught Sport.

The third edition of the Friendship Games organized by Cop Colombia as part of the Peacemakers Project, brought together children, Peace Educators, colombian athletes and Champions for Peace to celebrate the major impact of sport on creating a culture of peace in Usme, Colombia. Peace Educators took part in the 3rd cycle of training on the Peace and Sport Methodology, strengthening their capacity to implement structured sport-based sessions in new neighborhoods, with the support of the Alcaldia Local de Usme. Additional sports, Basketball and Rugby, introduced on this occasion are set to impact 16 new clubs, marking a significant step towards community empowerment and scale-up project.
